Google Play Store search filter expanding to let you filter top and new apps

Google is known to keep making some changes to the Play Store. The company had tweaked the search results layout on the store in late March to show app ratings, size, and download count. Now, it is again working on improving the search function by enhancing the filters feature.

As of now, when one searches for an app on the Play Store, Google displays some generic suggestions on top for filtering the results based on the search term. For example, searching for "Xiaomi" will show suggestions like "launcher," "keyboard," "gallery," and more. This will change once filter support is rolled out. Then, when one searches for an app, Google will now show generic filters so that users can refine the results based on ratings, Editor"s Choice, and New. In total, there are four filters that users can apply. One can also use multiple filters at the same time to further refine the results.

The feature is being rolled out by Google via a server-side update so it might not show up immediately on your Android smartphone.
