Google"s smartphone OS, Android, is being developed pretty steadily; it hasn"t been out very long compared to other mobile operating systems, but it"s getting features fairly quickly. Now, according to TechCrunch, the company could be releasing version 2.0 of the software soon, as hinted by... dessert.
Indeed, dessert. You see, the previous versions of Android updates came with code names, which were, strangely enough, named after types of food. Version 1.5 was known as Cupcake, Donut was 1.6, and Eclair is 2.0, the version which is yet to be released. To match the naming conventions, Google commissioned the construction of large sculptures depicting the version name which they represent (a giant cupcake for Cupcake, etc.), signaling the imminent release of the updates.
What makes this such a big hint is that only mere days before Donut became available to developers, a large donut showed up at the Google HQ; when you add this to rumors that new Android phones will be out by the month"s end, it"s pretty obvious what the search giant is up to. We"ve imbedded an ever-exciting video below, showing the delicious treat being delivered, in case you"re into that sort of thing.
