In May of this year, Google announced a makeover to the Play Store"s purchase experience in which the process of installing and subscribing to a service was streamlined. It also added the use of a PIN to confirm purchases. Those were on top of the user interface redesign for the Play Store meant to make navigating content and apps easier.
Today, Google announced that it is rolling out a visual redesign to the Play Store in line with its Material Design. The change aims to simplify the user experience by improving how users discover and access specific types of content.
For an easier way of finding content, there"s a new navigation bar sitting at the bottom of the Play Store on mobile devices and a left navigation on tablets and Chrome OS. In the navigation bar, apps, movies, books, and games have their separate tabs to help users quickly distinguish the type of content they"d like to search.
The updated Play Store will then display more details about an app at the top of its listing page when you"ve clicked on a certain content you"re looking for. Also, the install button is now bigger compared to the previous design.
Google also unified the shape of icons on the Play Store so that content can be easier to identify more than the UI. These changes are now live for everyone.
