Google slashes 38% off the cost of its Daydream View VR headset, now available for $49

Last October, Google unveiled the Daydream View, a virtual reality headset designed for devices that support its new virtual reality platform. Initially, Daydream was only supported by Google"s flagship Pixel phones, but several more handsets have since been released with Daydream compatibility.

The Daydream View headset is available in several markets around the world, including the United States, where it usually costs $79. But Google has now slashed $30 (38%) off its price, reducing it to $49.

The headset is available at that price in all three colors: Snow (light gray), Slate (dark gray), and Crimson (dark red). The deal is exclusive to purchases from the Google Store in the US, and will continue there until February 25 - a surprisingly long offer for such a substantial discount.

The Daydream View headset comes with a controller that allows users to navigate through the various VR experiences available on the Daydream platform.
