Google Voice down for outgoing calls

Users are reporting that Google Voice is having issues making outbound calls. According to TechCrunch, when people make outbound calls, it just rings incessantly even if the recipient picks up. For users who use Google Voice as their primary means of communication, this is very troublesome. A few minutes of email downtime is one thing; losing your phone functionality is a whole different level of crippling.

The issue is only affecting outbound calls, and you"re still able to use Gmail"s voice functionality. Google released a statement, saying, “We’re aware of the issue, which is affecting some Google Voice users, and are working on a fix.”

Google has had issues with services going down in the past, but many will be especially irked by the downtime of Google Voice. Many use this as their primary means of communication, and this can be compared to AT&T having an outage in the middle of the day. Hopefully, Google will fix this ASAP, so stay tuned as more details emerge.
