Google's Pixel and Pixel XL flagships get £70 off in the UK, now available from £529.99

Last month, Google unveiled the Pixel and Pixel XL, its "showcase" devices for Android 7.1 Nougat, the newest version of its ubiquitous OS. Built by HTC, the two handsets are unmistakably high-end, with premium price tags to match their superlative specs - but they"ve now become a bit more affordable in the UK.

With the festive shopping season now upon us, companies everywhere are vying for the attention of buyers with all sorts of deals. Leading independent device retailer Carphone Warehouse is among them, and in its current "Black Tag Event" of deals, it"s now offering £70 off the two Google phones:

As you can see, the deal only applies to the 32GB models of the two handsets; the 128GB variants are excluded from the offer.

Significant savings are also available for those wishing to buy the handsets on a pay-monthly plan; Carphone Warehouse is offering £150 off the 32GB Pixel and Pixel XL when purchased with a two-year contract.

The two flagships only began shipping a month ago, so this may well be the first time they"ve received a substantial discount since their launch. Both handsets are still being sold at full price on the Google Store.
