Google unveiled its Nexus 9 tablet back in October, as one of the showcase devices for Android 5.0 Lollipop. The premium tablet, built by HTC, went on sale a few weeks later, priced at $399 in the United States, and £319 in the UK.
For those accustomed to more affordable Google devices - like the popular Nexus 5 smartphone and the brilliant Nexus 7 tablet - the higher-end focus of the Nexus 9 came as a bit of a surprise. But if you"re in the UK and you"ve been lusting after the Nexus 9 for a while, now might be the ideal time to go for it.
Amazon UK has slashed the cost of the device, bringing the entry-level 16GB model down to just £199.99, saving you almost £120 on its regular price. The 32GB version has been reduced too - down from £399 to £299 - but sadly, there"s no price cut on the 4G LTE model, which the retailer is still selling for £459.
The Nexus 9"s key specs include:
- 8.9-inch IPS LCD with 4:3 aspect ratio and QXGA (2048x1536px) resolution, protected by Gorilla Glass 3
- 64-bit 2.3GHz NVIDIA Tegra K1 processor with 192-core Kepler GPU
- 2GB RAM
- 16GB / 32GB onboard storage options
- 8MP rear camera with autofocus and LED flash
- 1.6MP front-facing camera
- NFC
- Bluetooth 4.1
- 6700mAh battery
- 228.3 x 153.7 x 8mm; 425g
The Google Store is continuing to offer the Nexus 9 in the UK at the regular undiscounted prices, and it"s not yet clear how long Amazon intends to sell it with these generous discounts - so if you"re thinking of buying the tablet, it"s probably best not to wait too long.
