A week from today, Google will host a media event in San Francisco, at which it will unveil its new Nexus flagship phones, the hero devices for its new OS update, Android 6.0 Marshmallow. This time last year, the company had just announced Android 5.0 Lollipop, along with three showcase devices for that OS release, including the Nexus Player box.
At its launch, Google made a lot of noise about the Nexus Player, its affordable Android TV box with a flair for casual gaming, which went on sale for just under $100. Now, one year on, you grab it for half that price.
Best Buy is currently selling the Nexus Player for just $49.99, which includes free shipping. The ASUS-built device comes with a remote, but the wireless gamepad is an optional extra, currently priced at $29.99 (usually $39.99).
While you"re at Best Buy, you might want to pick up a Microsoft Band too, as it"s also available with 50% off its regular price. Normally $199.99, the Band is on sale now for $99.99 - likely in an effort to shift stock before the device"s successor is unveiled next month.
