At its Made by Google event in October of last year, the search giant unveiled some changes to its Nest Aware subscription in an effort to help consumers manage their security cameras more easily. Today, Google announced that its revamped Nest Aware subscription is rolling out to 19 markets where it"s currently available.
The new Nest Aware pricing model offers a holistic subscription that charges customers on a per household basis, instead of per device as was previously the case. The single subscription covers all of your devices including your cameras, speakers, and displays. It costs $6 a month or $60 a year, which gets you 30 days of event video history. You have the option to double your event history to 60 days for $12 a month or $120 per year if you upgrade to Nest Aware Plus, with 10 days of 24/7 video history to boot.
With the new service, your devices will record and share event clips that need immediate attention such as when a package is delivered at your doorstep. You will also receive alerts via the Home app if the Nest speakers or displays detect a critical noise such as a smoke alarm or glass breaking. You can then call 911 directly from the Home app, a feature that"s available only in the U.S. The new Nest Aware also allows you to take care of your loved ones who have a Nest Hub Max.
If you want to upgrade your existing subscription to the new pricing model, you can do so via the Google Store, but you"ll also need to switch to a Google account in the process. The new Nest Aware is now available in the U.S. (except Puerto Rico), Australia, Austria, Belgium, Canada, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Ireland, Italy, Mexico, Netherlands, New Zealand, Norway, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, and the U.K.
