Gordon Freeman to appear (kind of) in Renegade Ops

For four years, fans of the Half-Life first person shooter series have asked, "What happened to Gordon Freeman?" The lead character of the series fought off alien invaders at the Black Mesa research facility in the first Half-Life game and continued the fight inside and outside City 17 in its sequel, Half-Life 2 and in the game"s two short downloadable follow-ups. At the end of Half-Life 2: Episode 2, Valve left fans hanging to find out what happened to Gordon Freeman, promising to finally conclude his story in Half-Life 2: Episode 3.

While we are still waiting for Valve to give us that final piece of the Half-Life saga, players will be able to see Gordon Freeman appear in another upcoming game. Sega announced today that the PC version of Renegade Ops, the downloadable top down action game from developer Avalanche Studios, will allow players to pick and operate the Half-Life 2 buggy driven by Freeman. Players who pick the buggy will also be able to use Antlions, one of Half-Life 2"s alien creatures, to come to the aid of the Renegade Ops.

Renegade Ops is supposed to be a fast and furious arcade game experience with players picking one of several different vehicles to battle against enemies. It will also support two player co-op in the single player campaign and up to four players in online multiplayer matches. The PC version of the game will be released via Valve"s Steam service on October 14 for $14.99. You can check out a trailer of the Half-Life 2 buggy in action in the video below.
