When Obsidian Entertainment"s multiplayer survival game Grounded was released into early access in July, 2020, it managed to gather over a million players in just 48 hours. Since then, 10 million players have been miniaturized in the back yard, and the studio is slowly building up to the much-awaited 1.0 launch.
"With a small dev team constantly getting feedback from the community, Grounded would not be where it is without the players who have supported the game during the Game Preview/Early Access period," says Obsidian"s Mikey Dowling. "That feedback will allow Grounded to be in an even better place when it comes to its full release later this year."
To celebrate the event, a Steam Free Weekend promotion is running from now through February 13, offering PC players a chance to experience the full game during that time.
The most recent update to the game, 0.12 "Into the Wood", knocked over the BBQ to create a scorched area, while also adding a "Woodpile" location which hosts new creatures like termites, dust mites, scarabs, and ladybirds, alongside hordes of other changes. Grounded is available across PC, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, as well as on Xbox and PC Game Pass services via Early Access/Xbox Game Preview. Aside from the small team involved with Grounded, Obsidian is also working on the RPGs The Outer Worlds 2 and Avowed for Microsoft platforms.
