It"s extremely hard for a PC exclusive game to break one million units in its entire lifetime. However, it looks like sales of the recently released Guild Wars 2 are very healthy indeed, even when the publisher behind the game, NCSoft, decided to stop digital sales of the fantasy MMO sequel for a little while.
Today, via Massively, NCSoft announced that sales of Guild Wars 2 have now broken the two million unit mark since the game launched on August 28th. Two days after the launch, NCSoft decided to halt first party sales of the game"s digital download version. In short, there were too many players attemping to sign onto the servers of Guild Wars 2. Retail sales of the game were not affected.
Earlier this week, NCsoft resumed digital download sales of the game and that seems to be the extra push that was needed to break the two million sales barrier. The game itself, developed by ArenaNet, has already generated solid reviews and it seems like this game could avoid some of the problems that other recently launched and heavily hyped MMO games, such as Star Wars: The Old Republic, have encountered.
