Ticketfly"s website has been taken offline after a hacker breached the ticket distribution service"s online portal, compromising the data of employees and customers who purchase tickets to nightclubs in the U.S. such as Brooklyn Bowl and the 9:30 Club through the site. Ticketfly"s website is still offline at the time of this writing as well as the respective sites of those clubs while the company is currently working to restore its ticketing system.
A hacker calling themselves IsHaKdZ briefly took control of the website and defaced it with a Guy Fawkes mask (often used in conjunction with the "Anonymous" group). The hacker reportedly told Motherboard that it notified Ticketfly about a vulnerability that allowed them to hijack its database and website, and demanded 1 bitcoin (roughly $7500 USD at time of writing) in exchange for the vulnerability"s details, but received no response.
In an FAQ page, Ticketfly confirmed that the cyber incident "resulted in the compromise of some client and customer information" including their names, home and email addresses, and phone numbers.
It remains unclear when the ticketing website goes back online. Those who have purchased a ticket for an upcoming event are advised to visit the social media pages of the venue hosting the show for real-time updates.
