One of the very first games to enter the Epic Games Store as an exclusive now has a Steam launch date attached to it. Supergiant Games announced today that its rogue-like RPG Hades is coming to Steam on December 10 this year, almost exactly a year after it reached the Epic Games Store.
A year ago, Supergiant said to expect the game to reach a "a variety of platforms" once it launches in full, but Hades will arrive on Steam still with the Early Access tag it sported during its stint at Epic"s curated store. The studio expects push out v1.0 and shed its in-development tag in the latter half of 2020, which is probably when we can expect a console release as well.
For those unfamiliar with the game or any other works of Supergiant, here"s a short description from the store page:
Battle Out of Hell: As the immortal Prince of the Underworld, wield the powers and mythic weapons of Olympus to break free from the clutches of the god of death himself. Grow stronger and unravel more of the story with each unique escape attempt from the House of Hades.
The Olympians have your back! Meet Zeus, Athena, Poseidon, and many more, and choose from their dozens of powerful Boons that enhance your abilities. There are thousands of viable character builds to discover as you go.
As previously mentioned, Hades plus its killer soundtrack will be available on Steam as an Early Access title on December 10. In addition to Epic Games Store"s Windows and macOS offerings, a Linux version is also a possibility on Steam judging by the studio"s previous game releases. The price will probably remain the same as the Epic Games Store"s as well, coming in at $24.99.
Epic"s exclusivity deals mostly seem to hover around the one year range - the Borderlands 3 deal, however, is six months long - meaning right after Hades, 2020 will be when we will see many of the other exclusives start appearing on Steam.
