Half-Life: Alyx is only days away from launch, and today, Valve made pre-loading available for the title. Those who have pre-purchased the game or received it for free with a Valve Index or a Vive Cosmos Elite VR system can now begin downloading the files early through Steam to be prepared for the launch.
The download size of the pre-load stands at 48GB, but note that it will uncompress to 67GB at the end, so have some extra space ready before beginning. Everyone"s files are slated to unlock simultaneously on launch day, March 23 at 10AM PT.
For those still in the dark, Half-Life: Alyx will be a prequel story to Half-Life 2, showcasing a new adventure involving the Combine"s early stages on Earth. This time, Alyx Vance arrives as the main protagonist, since Gordan is yet to take his train ride. The game supports essentially every PC VR headset out in the market as well, from Valve"s own Index to the Oculus and Vive systems.
The pre-purchase discount attached to Half-Life: Alyx currently pulls the game down to $53.99 on Steam. Gameplay footage of the title can be seen over here, showcasing the multiple movement options available in VR. As for the future of the franchise following Alyx, Valve recently said that it once again plans to continue the series.
