Halo 3 now available on Steam, Microsoft Store, and Xbox Game Pass

Halo 3 is now available on PC via the Master Chief Collection, hours earlier than originally intended it seems. Until now, the massively popular title has been an Xbox platform exclusive since 2007, and originally skipped a PC launch even though the previous entries in the trilogy arrived to the platform.

The release delivers the full Halo 3 campaign to "finish the fight", extensive multiplayer modes, and the Forge editor in a single package. 343 Industries has also officially enabled Forge for Halo: Reach and Halo 2: Anniversary for the first time on PC. A brand new challenges system for earning items and XP, as well as a new season that carries 100 new items for Halo: Combat Evolved - with a toggle to disable them - have been added to the collection as well.

Aside from new features, fixes have been implemented to improve Halo: Reach"s audio, finally resolving probably the biggest issue that has been plaguing the title since launching on PC last year. The full patch notes for today"s release can be seen here, while the known issues tracker is over here.

Halo: The Master Chief Collection for PC is available to purchase on the Microsoft Store and Steam with a $39.99 price tag. Like the other games in the bundle, purchasing just Halo 3 is an option too, which comes in at $9.99 on the aforementioned stores. Xbox Game Pass for PC subscribers now have the game available in their library as well.
