Halo 5 will get updated to True 4K for the Xbox One X

At the E3 2017 conference this year, Microsoft finally took the wrapping off of its "Project Scorpio" console, naming it the Xbox One X and promising gaming in True 4K. But in the list of games that would receive the 4K treatment, Halo 5: Guardians was notably missing. In fact, there really wasn"t any Halo news at E3.

In an announcement today, 343 Industries said that it wasn"t "quite ready to make the announcement" at the conference, but today, it confirmed that Halo 5 will indeed get an update to 4K to coincide with the release of the Xbox One X.

The company didn"t confirm that it will also run at a 60fps framerate, but it seems likely that it will. 343 Industries says that it will have more to share as we get closer to the release.

If you"re using the $499 Xbox One X without a 4K TV, you should still see some improvements in graphics, thanks to the console"s supersampling technology. It"s coming out in November, so we"ll likely see the update for Halo 5: Guardians during a similar timeframe.
