Halo fans are going to be getting more than just Halo 4 in 2012. The company announced today plans to launch Halo 4: Forward Unto Dawn, a five part live action web series that will be launched before the first person shooter Halo 4 is released for the Xbox 360 on November 6th. Variety reports that the web series will be shown via Microsoft"s own Halo Waypoint as well as the Machinima YouTube channel.
The series will be released in 15 minute installments and will have some sort of link with Halo 4"s storyline. It will tell the tale of a young UNSC cadet who has been inspired in some way by Halo"s lead character Master Chief.
Microsoft is reportedly investing a lot of money in the making of this live action series, with the aim of perhaps jump starting a Halo feature film down the road. Microsoft Game Studios" Matt McCloskey insists, "The Halo 4 web series is not just a marketing piece to promote the game." Microsoft has not yet revealed who is involved creatively in the production of Halo 4: Forward Unto Dawn. More information about the series is expected to be announced at the San Diego Comic-Con in July.
