The last time 343 Industries had an Insider Testing session for the upcoming PC version of Halo: Reach was back in June, and now, it"s finally time for another one. 343 Industries" Tyler Davis revealed today that 10,000 invites have been sent out to registered Halo Insiders on PC. This weekend"s session will be flighting Halo: Reach"s Firefight mode and its matchmaking processes.
Firefight is Halo"s own multiplayer horde mode where waves of AI-controlled Covenant clashes against up to four player-controlled Spartans. This Insider test will ship with three maps, Beachhead, Corvette, and Holdout, with two 4-player Firefight playlists rotating during it.
Here are the dates and times for when the play sessions will be active:
- August 24, 10:00 AM PT - 1:00 PM PT & 5:00 PM PT - 9:00 PM PT
- August 25, 10:00 AM PT - 1:00 PM PT & 5:00 PM PT - 9:00 PM PT
- August 26, 10:00 AM PT - 1:00 PM PT & 5:00 PM PT - 9:00 PM PT
343 urged those who were selected for the flight to share feedback on this build in its new Halo Support website. Even with 10,000 invites sent out, however, this leaves out "most of the overall Halo Insider population," per the developer. It explained that tests are still being ramped up:
For Flight Two we’re continuing to intentionally limit the number of users as we gradually ramp up in size and scope to appropriately test various hardware configurations, operating systems, and other various scenarios we are looking to test at scale. Should you not be invited this time, we sincerely appreciate your interest and eagerness to help. There is more to come.
Anyone interested in being a Halo Insider to be considered for a future flight can sign up for the program here.
Halo: The Master Chief Collection will be releasing on PC one game at a time in chronological order, with Reach coming first, followed by Halo: Combat Evolved, and so on. The Collection is coming to both the Microsoft Store and Steam on the new platform, though none of the games have release dates attached to them yet.
