This summer, Microsoft launched "Halo: Spartan Assault" for Windows 8 and Windows Phone 8, allowing PC and mobile phone owners a chance to play an original game in the Halo sci-fi shooter series. Today, Microsoft announced it will be porting the game to both the Xbox 360 and the upcoming Xbox One game consoles for a release sometime in December.
The Halo Waypoint website has the details on the port, which will again be developed by Vanguard Games and Microsoft"s own 343 Industries. The top-down shooter, which takes places between the events of "Halo 3" and "Halo 4," will contain all of the content found in the Windows 8 and Windows Phone 8 versions, including the Operation Hydra expansion pack.
The Xbox 360 and Xbox One versions will also include an all new online co-op mode exclusive to those consoles, which Microsoft says will feature additional "missions, enemies, weapons, abilities, upgrades, achievements and more." Unfortunately, there will be no cross-platform co-op support between the Xbox 360 and Xbox One consoles. There"s no word yet on how many players will be able to join in the co-op missions. There"s also no indication on what the price will be for the console versions of the game.
