Hands on with the new Instagram Universal Windows app

After speculation over the weekend, Instagram finally released their universal Windows app today as a public beta.

All reports point to the new app being an iOS port, although it"s not through Microsoft"s Project Islandwood. Facebook used their own technology, Osmeta.

Also, it"s important to note that the app is listed as being published by Instagram, just like the old Instagram BETA app. Other Facebook apps, such as Facebook and Facebook Beta, are published by Microsoft, although there is a version that"s made by Facebook under private beta.
