Apple is holding its WWDC 2019 developer conference this week, where it announced the next major update for Apple Watches, watchOS 6. The big feature this time around is that the company"s wearable now has its own App Store, making it even more of a standalone device.
There are a whole bunch of other new apps, such as Voice Memo and Calculator. With the latter, there"s an option to calculate a tip, and you can use the digital crown to decide what percentage you want to pay, and how many people to split it between.
There"s a new Noise app, which is designed to let you know when it"s too loud. If you"re at a concert or another place that can damage your hearing, your Apple Watch will let you know.
To get the watchOS 6 beta, you need to have an iPhone that"s on the iOS 13 beta. And for that, you need a Mac that"s on the macOS Catalina beta. In other words, there are quite a few steps you have to take to get to watchOS 6. If you do install it though, remember, there"s no easy way to roll back.
