When Microsoft showed the Surface Neo back in October, it meant that a whole new version of Windows is on the way. Called Windows 10X, the long-rumored "Windows Lite" was finally real. The only problem was that Microsoft has wanted to keep a tight lid on the new OS. We actually got an exclusive hands-on with Windows 10X at CES, but until today, it wasn"t public.
Today though, Microsoft actually released an SDK and emulator for Windows 10X. That means that now, anyone can go and play with the OS. In order to do it, you just need a version of Windows 10 that supports Hyper-V, meaning anything besides Windows 10 Home. You"ll also need to enroll your PC in the Fast ring of the Windows Insider Program, and then you can install the Microsoft Emulator and Windows 10X image from the Microsoft Store.
Obviously, we went and did just that. Windows 10X hasn"t changed much since I used it a month ago, but it was definitely cool to have some more freedom to play with the operating system. Check out the hands on video below:
