HERE - the maker of HERE Maps - has announced that the app will be rebranded to HERE WeGo. With the new name also comes a number of new features.
HERE WeGo aims to be a one-stop app for navigation, making it as easy as possible for users to find the best route. Once the user plugs in a destination, they will be presented with various modes of transportation. Unlike other mapping applications - which would provide driving, walking, and usually mass transit - HERE WeGo provides all of the above, along with ride-sharing, taxis, and cycling.
The only ride-sharing option, however, is Car2Go; sorry Uber and Lyft users. Users will be able to press a button to launch the Car2Go app and reserve their ride.
The news comes almost exactly a year after Nokia sold off HERE to a consortium of German auto-makers. Back in March, the company announced that its apps would no longer work on Windows phones running Windows 10 Mobile; because of that, Windows users shouldn"t expect to see HERE WeGo anytime soon.
The update is available for iOS and Android right now though. You can grab it from the App Store here, or from the Play Store here.
