Apart from announcing Resident Evil 7 biohazard and Batman: Arkham VR for the PlayStation VR, Sony has unveiled yet another new horror game called "Here They Lie" for its current-gen and upcoming consoles. The game focuses on narrative and is described by the developers as a psychological thriller.
Although gameplay wasn"t shown off at E3, the teaser trailer does showcase intensely creepy and realistic environments along with some frightening characters.
The game is being developed by a relatively new studio called "Tangentlemen", and according to the developers, they discussed several horror elements - including some from Stephen King"s "The Shining" - before deciding to make the game in virtual reality. With that being said, the studio does boast some notable figures including Toby Gard (Creator of Lara Croft and Tomb Raider), Rich Smith (of Call of Duty Modern Warfare) and John Garcia-Shelton (of Medal of Honor and Call of Duty).
Tangentlemen describe Here They Lie as follows:
Here They Lie is a dark psychological horror experience that transports you to a terrifying, surreal world inhabited by strange and malevolent creatures. Unimaginable horrors lurk around every corner, just out of sight, haunting and infecting your mind.
Dare yourself to go deeper down the rabbit hole and confront the meaning of your existence.
With a focus on narrative, and the experience of dread, Here They Lie is not your typical survival horror game.
Here They Lie will be making its way to the PlayStation 4 and PlayStation VR in fall 2016.
