Well, Neowin had another hack attempt. A rather nasty one at that. For some reason, someone seems to have something against Neowin, which is very sad because it is a very informative site.
I want to make some things very clear.
1) I am NOT going to take Neowin down. I AM prosecuting each and every attempt.
2) Hacking into a site is a criminal offense. Every attempt is turned over to the authorities AND the civil court. The people that have been prosecuted so far (and we have won) got hit with a criminial and civil suit, and we won on both accounts, each time.
3) Some people have asked what kind of server Neowin is on. We just ordered a new server that is a dual Pentium III 933 with 1GB of RAM. Very nice machine, and it will handle the loads better.
4) I stand behind my clients...each and every one of them. This is not Neowin"s fault and yes, it would be easier to kick them off the server, which is what most hosts would do, but that is not what I am about. I am not going to let a hacker dictate to me what sites to have on my server. I am also not going to let a hacker ruin the online experience for anyone unnecessarily. I refuse to let a hacker win.
That being said, I hope I am making myself perfectly clear. I will not tolerate it.
Second, I want to thank everyone for their emails. For those of you that don"t know, I lost six family members and one very good friend as the result of the NY tragedy. Everyone has been very supportive. It is a shame that it took a tragedy like this for us to unite, but having lost so many loved ones, I try to look at what good came out of this, so their lives were not lost for nothing. I will be attending more funerals in the next couple of weeks than I have in my entire life. I was also just in New York prior to what happened and I am glad that I was able to the old New York before this happened. I went back to New York right after the tragedy and I hope to never see that much devestation again.
Ok, that"s enough of that. I just wanted to thank everyone for their kind words. It meant alot to me.
Let"s get back to the news. :)
