Hitman Game of the Year Edition announced, includes a new campaign and more

IO Interactive announced earlier this month that it would unveil some brand new content heading for Hitman today, and right on schedule, the studio has delivered. The biggest announcement of the day is that Hitman is getting a Game of the Year Edition on November 7.

This new edition will arrive with the entire complete first season and the brand new Patient Zero campaign, which is described as follows:

After the routine elimination of a target, a contingency plan to unleash a global pandemic is triggered and Agent 47 must race against the clock to prevent a virus from spreading. This four-mission campaign spans different locations in the game, each one re-worked from the original settings with new gameplay opportunities, disguises, characters, challenges, gameplay mechanics, AI behaviour and HUD elements.

Also incoming with the GOTY Edition are three Escalation Contracts centered around the new Clown, Raven, and Cowboy outfits, which come with their own signature weapons, ranging from a bat, a rifle, and a magnum pistol.

Meanwhile, regular edition owners have not been forgotten, with a free game update also planned to land on November 7. Highlights from this update include lighting improvements across all missions, a redesigned UI, additional options for customizing and finding popular contracts, and Tobii eye tracking support for PC. Moreover, for anyone who missed out on the numerous Elusive Target missions, IO Interactive will be re-activating them starting in November.

Considering Microsoft"s upcoming console, the Xbox One X, also launches on November 7, Hitman will receive Xbox One X enhancements in the same free update as well. These will include native 4K support and higher frame rates, with more details regarding the enhancements to come at a later date.

The Hitman Game of the Year Edition will go on sale digitally for $60. However, existing owners of the first season will have the option to upgrade to the new GOTY Edition for $20. There is still no word on when will, or even if, a second season of content will arrive for the game.
