HMD Global announces beta program, Android 8.0 available for Nokia 8

It was over the summer that Google finally announced the official name of its latest Android OS by debuting the moniker Oreo. This was all well and good, but a couple months later, the disappointing news would arrive that Oreo was only on 0.2% of devices. Despite the poor adoption rate by manufacturers for the moment, companies like HMD Global have outwardly committed to the update, going a step further by stating things would happen by the end of this year.

Now it looks like the firm is rolling out a new program to allow its users to beta test upcoming updates. Juho Sarvikas, who is the Chief Product Officer at HMD Global, announced that the company would offer a new beta program and that the Nokia 8 would be one of the first devices to get Android 8.0 Oreo through the program. While it probably isn"t the handset you were hoping for, Sarvikas also followed up that the Nokia 3, Nokia 5, and Nokia 6 would also be included in the beta for Android 8.0 Oreo.

If interested in enrolling in the program, be sure to head to the source link below. As a reminder, you will need to have a Nokia 8 in order to participate, at least for now.
