Today, HMD Global announced that it"s continuing to roll out Android 10 to its devices, making good on a promise to update three phones by the end of last year, and three more in the first quarter of this year. The devices getting the upgrade today include the Nokia 6.1, 6.1 Plus, and 7 Plus, and they join the Nokia 9 PureView, 7.1, and 8.1 in the family of Android 10 devices.
HMD noted that the Nokia 6.1 is part of the Android One program, and it"s guaranteeing two years of OS upgrades and three years of security updates. Of course, the firm has a lot more work to do when it comes to upgrading its handsets to the latest version of Android. Also expected to receive Android 10 this quarter are the Nokia 2.2, 3.1 Plus, 3.2, 4.2, 1 Plus, 5.1 Plus, 8 Sirocco, and 7.2. In Q2, we should see the update for the Nokia 1, 2.1, 3.1, and 5.1.
Android 10 comes with a variety of improvements for users. Most notably, there"s a new navigation system that"s based on gestures, and it"s very different from the one that shipped with Android 9.0 Pie. It also offers features like Smart Reply in messages, Family Link in Digital Wellbeing, Focus Mode, and new privacy controls.
