Huawei’s sub-brand Honor unveiled the View 30 Pro flagship and the more affordable 9X Pro in February 2020. Now, the company is reportedly preparing to launch its mid-range series, the Honor 30 lineup, later this month. Details of one of the devices from that series, the Honor 30S, have leaked today, providing more information on the processor and camera setup specifications.
The device is expected to run on Huawei’s new Kirin 820 5G-enabled chipset – the company’s first mid-range 5G SoC, according to a 3C certification document from China. The device is likely to be the successor to the Honor 20S that was announced last year – which sported mid-range specifications. While that device came with a triple-camera setup, the 30S is expected to come with a quad-camera setup according to leaked renders.
The renders point to a rectangular camera housing that employs the four cameras. While the exact configurations of the shooters are not known, it wouldn’t be surprising to see the device carry over the setup from its predecessor. Other details include the addition of support for 40W fast charging (at a 10V/4A max configuration). The image also reveals a recess on the side of the device, hinting at the possibility of a side-mounted fingerprint sensor.
The Honor 30 series devices are expected to be launched in China sometime later this month. The 20S was priced at CNY 1,900 ($265/€240), and one can expect the 30S to be priced similarly.
