Honor 8 flagship comes to Europe, with dual-12MP camera and octa-core processor

After releasing its new flagship phone in the United States last week, priced at $399, Honor has today launched the high-end handset in Europe.

The Honor 8 is available immediately, and is priced at £369.99 in the UK. Those in the UK who purchase the new handset via the official Vmall.eu store will also get an "anniversary package" worth £69.99. If you prefer to buy from Amazon, you"ll get a free Fire TV Stick with your purchase. Other well-known UK retailers will also offer the Honor 8, including Clove, Ebuyer and Expansys. Three will be the only carrier to offer the device in the UK.

The Honor 8 will also be offered in various European markets through the Vmall.eu store, priced at €339.

The Honor 8 promises "state-of-the-art mobile and camera technology", including a dual-camera with two 12-megapixel sensors - an RGB sensor, and a second monochrome sensor, which the company says "captures three times more light than normal, improving the dynamic range of the image and reducing noise – even in darkness".

The company says that the camera also supports an "extensive set of functions and filters, from light painting and beauty mode to panorama frames, slow-mo, food mode, HDR, super night and water mark". The device also has a front-facing camera.

The Honor 8 has an octa-core Kirin 950 processor, 4GB of RAM and 32GB of onboard storage, as well as supporting microSD cards up to 128GB. There will also be a model with 64GB of onboard storage priced at €449; this model will not initially be available in the UK, but should come later.

Its 5.2-inch display offers Full HD (1920x1080px) resolution; while that"s a lower-res display than the many Quad HD (2560x1440px) flagships that have popped up in recent months, the Full HD screen on the Honor 8 may offer benefits to battery life. The device has a non-removable 3000mAh battery, chargeable via a USB Type-C port, including fast-charge capabilities that can juice it up to 50% capacity within 30 minutes.

We"ve already had some time to test the Honor 8 in the real world, ahead of its European launch. Be sure to check out our first impressions of the device here.

A few days ago, Honor committed to delivering new features to its handsets at least once every three months in the first year after launch, along with further feature updates for at least a year after that. It also said that it will provide security updates for its devices after the first 24 months.
