Honor 8 to make its US debut on August 16th

Although Huawei has been around for quite some time, they didn"t penetrate the US market until the end of 2015. Many are familiar with the name, as the company partnered with Google to create the revered Nexus 6P. Although Huawei has slowly become familiar with those outside of Asia, the company has also focused on building its other brand, Honor.

Honor has been steadily releasing handsets over the past year, offering generous specifications attached to affordable prices. At the top of the year, they introduced the world to the 5X and later launched the GX8. More recently, they have launched the 6.6-inch Note 8 in China. While there has been speculation that the handset might make its way to the United States and other regions, it looks like the company will instead move forward and unveil something new in the next couple of days.

While it wasn"t clear what Honor might have in store for international markets, we spotted a small teaser clip that gave us a glimpse and a hint of a handset that would be unveiled on August 16th.

In the teaser ad, we get a look at the rear of the device, which gives us a glimpse of a dual camera system and fingerprint sensor. A little sleuthing revealed that Honor does have a US site prepared for the Honor 8, that currently only shows a countdown timer, some clips and slogans. The handset has already been unveiled in Asia, and should have nearly identical specifications for the US release offering a 5.2-inch 1080p display, Kirin 950 processor, 4GB RAM, and dual 12MP camera.

Naturally, we will find out much more on August 16th, when Honor will host an event in San Francisco. We will be live at the event and hope to provide a full hands-on of the Honor 8, or whatever handset or product might be unveiled. Honor is claiming that this device will "change everything", which could be the case if the price and specifications are right.
