Huawei"s sub-brand, Honor, announced today its latest mid-range series of smartphones that succeed the Honor 8X from last year. Just like Huawei"s Y9 Prime (2019) released last month, both the Honor 9X and 9X Pro feature a 16MP pop-up front camera, among others.
Under the hood, the phones are powered by a Kirin 810 SoC. They also sport a 6.59-inch FullHD+ LCD display and have a 92% screen-to-body ratio, thanks to the elevating selfie snapper.
On the back of the Honor 9X sits a dual camera module consisting of a 48MP main shooter and a 2MP depth sensor. Meanwhile, the Pro version has a triple camera setup on its back comprising those same sensors, which are complemented by an 8MP ultra-wide shooter.
Both phones also have a fingerprint sensor mounted on their sides and a design that"s quite similar to that of the Honor View 20, courtesy of their rear panel"s 3D gradient X-shaped finish. The phones run Android 9.0 Pie with EMUI 9.0 on top and pack a 4,000mAh battery that Honor claims can support up to 10 hours of game-play or 10 hours of online video playback.
The Honor 9X comes in 4GB/64GB, 6GB/64GB, and 6GB/128GB variants, with prices starting at ¥1,399 to ¥1,899 (~$200-$275). The Pro model is available in 8GB/128GB and 8GB/256GB configurations, retailing for ¥2,199 (~$320) and ¥2,399 (~$350) respectively. Both phones go on sale in China today and wider availability will be announced in the future.
Additionally, the company revealed during the launch event the new Honor Band 5 fitness tracker, the 16.1-inch MagicBook PRO notebook, and a fresh color for the Honor 20 Pro.
