Honor announces its "crazy" new Play handset with GPU Turbo technology and notched display

Today, Honor announced its latest handset, the Honor Play. The smartphone is touted as being "crazy", offering a crazy fast experience, being crazy smart, and so on.

The phone has a large 6.3-inch Full View display and is powered by a Kirin 970 processor with 4GB RAM and has 64GB of internal storage. The rear of the phone will have a dual camera setup, making use of a 16MP and 2MP sensor. The front-facing camera will also make use of a 16MP sensor.

As you might expect, there is a USB Type-C port for charging and data transfer. and a large 3,750mAh battery. Honor has also managed to include a 3.5mm headphone jack and the phone will launch with Android 8.1 Oreo. While the specifications aren"t out of this world, Honor is leveraging its GPU Turbo technology to give the Play an edge. The firm has been using it in some of its other phones and it allows for increased performance while also reducing battery consumption.

When it makes it to retail, the handset will arrive in four different colors: Ultra Violet, Navy Blue, Midnight Black, and Player Edition Red/Black. The standard models will be priced at €329 which is around $384, while the Player Edition will come in at €349, which is around $407 USD. The phone will go live through various retail channels starting today.
