Former Huawei sub-brand - but now an independent company - Honor has announced the latest refresh of its MagicBook 14 and 15 laptops. These are a follow-up to the models introduced at last year"s IFA and they"re now packing Intel processors rather than AMD"s Ryzen lineup.
This is more of a spec refresh than anything else, and the processor is the biggest change. The new MagicBooks now come with Intel Tiger Lake processors, and the MagicBook 14 specifically can be had with up to an Intel Core i7-1165G7. Even if you opt for the Core i5-1135G7, though, you"ll at least be getting Intel"s Iris Xe Graphics, which is a major improvement to the integrated GPU. The addition of a Core i7 model is also big news considering previous MagicBook models have only offered mid-tier processors, be it a Ryzen 5 or Core i5.
Another upgrade is in the RAM, since both models now come with up to 16GB of RAM, in addition to 512GB of SSD storage. You can still get the MagicBook 14 with 8GB of RAM if you go with the Core i5-1135G7, but most models will pack 16GB.
Everything else is very similar to previous models. The new models come with either a 14- or 15-inch Full HD display in a 16:9 aspect ratio and 100% sRGB color gamut coverage. They can reach up to 300 nits of brightness and they"ve also achieved TÜV Rheinland Low Blue Light and Flicker Free certifications.
You"ll find the same style of keyboard with a webcam hidden in the function row, a power button with a fingerprint sensor built-in to log you in more easily, and an assortment of ports - one USB Type-C port for charging, one USB 3.2 Gen 1 Type-A port, one USB 2.0 Type-A, HDMI, and a 3.5mm combo audio jack. Despite using Intel processors, there"s no Thunderbolt. Rounding out the connectivity, there"s Wi-Fi 6 with a 2x2 MIMO dual-antenna design, as well as Bluetooth 5.1.
Finally, there"s a 56Wh battery in the MagicBook 14, while the MagicBook 15 makes do with a 42Wh unit, promising 10.5 hours and 7.6 hours on a charge, respectively. Both also support 65W fast charging.
The new MagicBook 14 and 15 are available across Europe today. The MagicBook 14 starts at €849.90 for the Core i5 variant and €1199.90 for the Core i7 model. The MagicBook 15 is only available with a Core i5 processor and costs €949.90. You can find them on Honor"s website.
