Howard Schmidt will become VP of security for the ebay

Former White House cybersecurity adviser Howard Schmidt will join eBay as VP of security, eBay spokesman Chris Donlay confirmed. Schmidt officially left his White House post on Thursday after announcing his resignation on April 21. Donlay said Friday that Schmidt will start within the next few weeks.

Schmidt"s career has spanned the public and private sectors. Prior to his role in crafting the National Strategy to Secure Cyberspace, with former White House cybersecurity czar Richard Clarke, Schmidt was chief security officer at Microsoft. He has also worked as a supervisory special agent in the Air Force Office of Special Investigations, where he created the federal government"s first dedicated computer forensics laboratory.
