HP announces a range of premium new Envy laptops, convertibles, and desktops

Envy 17

Along with a new lineup of premium business Elite PCs, HP announced a range of new Envy PCs, including laptops, convertibles, and desktops. They include the new HP Command Center, which allows users to optimize performance, fan noise, and temperature using CoolSense technology. As always, there"s also Bang & Olufsen audio, and Sure View display technology for protecting your privacy.

Envy 13

The Envy 13 includes a metal design, and has Intel"s eighth-generation U-series processors, along with optional discrete Nvidia MX150 graphics. Also, it includes a Damascus pattern in the design (as do all of the new Envy portable PCs), which is typically found on sword blades and specialty knives. The bezels are thinner, and HP was sure to point out that the webcam is still on the top of the display.

The Envy x360 13 is the convertible version of the Envy 13, but this one actually includes AMD Ryzen 5 or Ryzen 7 processors. That means that it comes with AMD Radeon Vega graphics as well.

Envy x360 15

Offering an option between Intel Core and AMD Ryzen processors, the Envy x360 15 is the larger convertible. The 15.6-inch screen comes in 1080p and 4K flavors, along with Sure View privacy. Unfortunately, it doesn"t come with the benefits that you"ll find in some other premium 15-inch laptops, such as discrete graphics or a 45W processor. Still, this should be a great productivity machine.

Next up is the Envy 17 (seen at the top of the article). This is also offered with Intel U-series processors, along with an option for Nvidia GeForce MX150 graphics with 2GB GDDR5. It also includes USB 3.1 Gen 1 Type-C, three USB 3.1 Gen 1 Type-A ports, and HDMI 2.0.

There are a couple of new all-in-one PCs, including a 27-inch one and the Curved AiO 34. These include an Intel Core i7-8700T processor, which means that it"s a 45W chip and that it"s hyperthreaded. They also come with dedicated Nvidia GeForce GTX 1050 graphics with 4GB GDDR5.

They also include a woodgrain finish, and HP says that they"re the first all-in-ones to include support for Amazon"s Alexa. This is particularly interesting, because if an all-in-one PC is featured in a living room, it makes sense for it to serve as a smart speaker. Of course, with Cortana"s upcoming ability to communicate with Alexa, this might become more common.

Finally, the new Envy Desktop tower included rounded, diamond-cut corners and linear brushing detail. The Desktop comes with eighth-gen Intel Core 65W processors, and you can spec it out with up to an Nvidia GeForce GTX 1080 GPU with 8GB GDDR5.

All of the new Envy PCs will be available this month, with the Envy 13 starting at $999.99, the Envy x360 13 starting at $759.99, the Envy x360 15 starting at $749.99 (AMD) and $869.99 (Intel), the Envy 17 starting at $1,049.99, and the Desktop starting at $799.99. The Envy AiO 27 starts at $1,399.99, and the HP will reveal pricing for the curved 34-inch model later this year.
