HP announces new commercial desktops and All-in-Ones

There is a renewed interest for All-in-Ones in the tech industry after Microsoft"s recent venture into the AiO space. The company targeted "creatives" with the well-received but rather niche product leaving general consumers and enterprise to its OEMs, which have responded in kind. Now HP, known for its powerful commercial desktops and AiOs, have announced new desktops aimed at businesses.

The company has added four new desktops to its portfolio including the EliteOne 800 G3 All-in-One, the EliteDesk 800 G3 Tower, the EliteDesk 800 G3 Desktop Mini, and the EliteDesk 800 G3 Desktop Mini 65W. The 800 G3 All-in-One is the "first commercial desktop" featuring dual-facing cameras with a non-glare touchscreen, while the G3 Tower, which HP touts as the world"s most configurable commercial desktop, is VR-certified. The 800 G3 Desktop Mini and the 800 G3 Desktop Mini 65W are mini versions of their bigger siblings for "customers who are tight on space but big on productivity".

Alex Cho, Vice President and General Manager for Commercial PCs at HP Inc. commented:

“The millennial workforce is clamoring for stylish devices that inspire creativity and an open exchange of ideas, and employers are demanding technology that looks beautiful in their open floor plans yet are powerful and secure with no barriers to their employees’ productivity. The newest lineup of Elite desktops and AiOs reflects the vision of a business while reflecting the desires of employees, pairing beautiful designs with exciting features and performance that meet and exceed security requirements critical to all business environments.”

HP seems to be aiming at the 100-million strong commercial desktop market that"s using older hardware, which may leave businesses vulnerable and underpowered. To counter this, the Elite devices possess a built-in BIOS-level protection with SureStart Gen3 with Runtime Intrusion Detection and HP WorkWise, an app that facilitates PC Tamper Detection.

The EliteDesk 800 G3 series – which includes the Tower, Small Form Factor (SFF) and Desktop Mini – is available now, with a starting price of $829 whilst the EliteOne 800 G3 is available now, with the starting price tag of $1,049.
