HP announces the OMEN Obelisk with up an Nvidia GeForce RTX 2080

Nvidia finally announced its new GPUs built on its Turing architecture today, so naturally, OEMs are getting in line to announce their products that use the new graphics cards. Dell announced an array of Alienware PCs, Acer refreshed its Predator Orion desktops, and now, HP is announcing the OMEN Obelisk.

Aside from the powerful new GeForce RTX 2080 GPU, the Obelisk is powered by eighth-gen Intel Core i+ CPUs with up to six cores, or second-gen AMD Ryzen chips. It comes in a very flexible array of configurations, such as Optane memory, dual storage, triple storage, up to 32GB HyperX FURY DDR4-2666 memory, and so on.

“HP is focused on delivering incredible experiences that fuel the future of gaming and enable the community to perform at their best,” said Kevin Frost, vice president and general manager, Consumer Personal Systems, HP Inc. “Integrating the newly announced NVIDIA® GPUs and teaming up with HyperX® to provide high-performance memory for our OMEN Obelisk and future desktops demonstrates our commitment to building a world-class ecosystem comprised of the world’s best gaming solutions.”

And its designed for tool-less maintenance as well with microATX standards. That means that you can swap out drives and other components without any tools.

HP says that it"s "strategically cooled", with vents on the top, bottom, and sides and the power supply placed on the bottom. There"s also space for an aftermarket 120mm fan or 120mm liquid cooled radiator.

The HP OMEN Obelisk will be available in September on HP.com starting at $849.99. You can find out more here.

Update: An earlier version of this article listed the starting price for the OMEN Obelisk as $879.99. HP has updated its pricing to $849.99.
