Announced back in September, HP"s Elite Dragonfly weighs in at under a kilogram, making it one of the lightest Windows 10 convertibles in the world. HP put a lot of engineering work into this, shrinking down the footprint and building the chassis out of CNC-machined magnesium, rather than the more traditional but heavier aluminum that it uses.
It"s not only the lightest, but HP says that it has the best battery life of any 13-inch business convertible on the market. That"s if you choose the four-cell battery (that brings the weight to 2.5 pounds instead of 2.18) instead of the two-cell battery, and the 1W 1080p display.
That"s the model that HP sent me, which also includes a Core i7-8665U, 16GB RAM, and a 512GB SSD. It"s a sort of successor to the EliteBook x360 1030, although the company never said that this is an actual replacement. The Dragonfly is something entirely new.
It also includes ocean-bound plastics in the speaker, and from what I"ve gathered speaking to HP, it"s really proud of what it"s doing in that area. Check out the unboxing video below:
