HP EliteBook 840 G5 unboxing: Always Connected, discrete graphics, and a privacy display

HP"s EliteBooks 800 series is all about the mainstream, with the company saying that this is the lineup that it plans to sell millions of. The 1000 series is the flagship, and the new EliteBook 840 G5 brings in some features that were previously exclusive to its higher-end siblings, such as an aluminum unibody.

The HP EliteBook 840 G5 is no slouch. This device includes an Intel Core i7-8650U, which is a 15W quad-core CPU with vPro, along with 32GB RAM and 1TB SSD. On top of that, there"s AMD Radeon 540 graphics with 4GB GDDR5.

On top of all of that power, there"s also an Intel 4G LTE modem, so this is an Always Connected PC. There"s a micro-SIM card slot on the side, and all you have to do is pop your SIM card in there.

And of course, there are all of HP"s commercial features that Elite PCs are known for. This model includes the firm"s Sure View privacy display, which means people can"t look over your shoulder to see what you"re working on. There"s also WorkWise and PhoneWise. The latter allows you to send and receive texts, and make and receive calls from your PC. The former will send you an alert if your device has been tampered with.
