HP gives more info about TouchPad business

If you missed out on buying an HP TouchPad when the company drastically cut its price earlier this month, you might be hoping that HP could put a few more units of its now discontinued webOS tablets back for sale. If so, you may be waiting a while before you find out. HP sent out an email to people on its TouchPad waiting list saying, " ... we are working to make more available as soon as possible. While we do not yet have specific details, we know it will be at least a few weeks before we have a limited quantity available again." As compensation, those same people also got a unique coupon code in the email that will give them a 25 percent discount on "all printers, ink, HP accessories, and PCs starting at or above $599" from now until the end of the day on Wednesday, August 31.

HP also posted up a new blog entry at its Next Bench web site that offers up more answers about its plans for the TouchPad and its other webOS based products. HP says that, "Limited inventory remains on TouchPad and smartphone accessories." That includes accessories for its Pre2 and Veer smartphones. HP also said that if it gets more TouchPads for sale, " ... there will be an order limit." Apparently when HP slashed the price on the TouchPad, some folks bought 20 units and then tried to resell them via eBay or Craigslist. HP also said that the TouchPads purchased at the $99 and $149 price points are not eligible to be returned.
