Today HP has refreshed a number of their laptops for the 2013 back-to-school market, releasing the Envy 14/15 TouchSmart, Envy 17, Pavilion 11 TouchSmart and Pavilion 14/15/17 with some impressive features.
The Envy 15 TouchSmart is a an Ultrabook with a 15.6-inch 1080p display and your choice of either AMD or Intel Haswell processors. Four speakers are packed inside this machine along with a subwoofer, and it"ll be available on June 5th starting at $529. There"s also the Envy 17, which comes with a 17.3-inch 1080p display, a Haswell processor, unspecified NVIDIA graphics, up to 2 TB of storage and Beats Audio; it"ll go on sale on June 5th starting at $699.
Things start to get more interesting with the HP Pavilion 11 TouchSmart (above), which is an affordable 11-inch laptop that comes with a touchscreen in every model. Starting at $399, you"ll have the choice of either AMD"s A4 or A6 Temash processors, and you"ll get a full-sized keyboard plus a range of ports including HDMI, VGA, three USB ports, Ethernet and an SD card slot. The Pavilion 11 will go on sale on June 26th.
The Envy TouchSmart 14, the smaller brother of the aforementioned TouchSmart 15, packs similar specs including AMD or Intel Haswell processors, although the impressive aspect of this machine is the display. The base model starts at $699 and packs a measly 1366 x 768 display, although you"ll be able to upgrade this all the way to a 3200 x 1800 resolution panel, which provides some much needed pixel density to the Windows 8 laptop camp.
The Envy TouchSmart 14 packs a wedge design similar to a MacBook Air, with an optional Retina-like display
Lastly we have the Pavilion 14, 15 and 17, which fill out the range with either Intel or AMD processors, up to 1 TB of storage, SRS Premium sound, an optical drive and a starting price of $479 for the 14-inch model, $429 for the 15-inch model and $449 for the 17-inch model when they go on sale June 5th.
