HP has already announced it will launch a business-focused tablet that will be based on Windows 8. On Thursday, the company"s CEO Meg Whitman confirmed that HP would also release two more Windows 8 products that will be a hybrid of tablet and notebook for consumer use.
Informationweek.com reports that Whitman made these remarks as part of the company"s quarterly financial conference call. No other details of these products were announced.
Earlier this year, Neowin revealed an early render of what is expected to be HP"s Windows 8 business tablet. More recently, the back of a mysterious tablet has appeared in an HP TV commercial and on its web site.
The news of the Windows 8 hybrid products came the same day that HP also announced a massive loss of $8.9 billion for its last fiscal quarter. Most of the loss was due to the company"s purchase of Electronic Data Systems. HP"s PC division generated revenues of $8.62 billion for the quarter, down 10 percent from the same period a year ago.
HP said that the decline in its PC sales was due in part to companies waiting for the launch of Windows 8. HP is expected to release its Windows 8 notebooks, desktops and tablets in late October, the same time Microsoft will launch Windows 8 to the general public.
