HP TouchPad can be bought for as low as $299 this weekend

The TouchPad tablet from HP hasn"t gotten off to a good start in terms of reviews, but if you still want to get your hands on this WebOS device and get it for a much cheaper price you have a shot this weekend. HP is giving both the 16 GB $499 version and the 32 GB $599 version an instant $100 rebate from now until Sunday from any retailer. That"s good news, but if you live near a Staples office supply store you might get an even better deal on the TouchPad.

As reported by WebOSRoundup.com, you can go to FatWallet.com and print out a $100 Staples coupon. You can then take the coupon to the local Staples retail store and if they have any HP TouchPad left you can grab it with both the $100 instant rebate and the $100 coupon. That means you can save a whopping $200 off the HP TouchPad. The web site is reporting that they have received word from its readers that Staples is indeed honoring the $100 Staples coupon in purchasing the tablets.

It may be a good time to get the TouchPad because a few days ago, HP released a new update to the tablet"s WebOS software. As reported on HP"s official Palm blog site, the 3.0.2 patch brings "performance and reliability enhancements, and also adds improved functionality to several core webOS apps." The patch allows TouchPad users to set up the tablet"s wallpaper from photos contained in the tablet"s Photo app. The TouchPad"s email app also "offers faster scrolling and improved image rendering, as well as improved management of multiple emails in Draft and Outbox views" via the update.
