HP has unveiled today four new laptops, which it considers to be “mobile workstations” thanks to enterprise class security, and powerful specifications. The company is targeting the new ZBook devices at professionals and creators who need power and security on the go.
First up is the HP ZBook Studio, built for “creative visionaries” like filmmakers and engineers. The device touts a whopping 16.5 hour of battery life, a “stunning design”, and a 4K UHD display that’s color corrected. The device comes in at just 18mm thick, though it does have a starting weight of 4.6lbs (2kg).
The ZBook Studio also features powerful internal specs, like a server-grade Intel Xeon processor, or a 7th generation Core processor, Nvidia Quadro graphics, and up to 2TB of storage, together with dual HP Z Turbo Drives and dual Thunderbolt 3 ports.
Up next is the HP ZBook 17, the top of the line model, which also gives yous a choice between an Intel Xeon or 7th-gen Core processor, has either Nvidia Quadro or AMD RadeonPro graphics, and comes with up to 4TB of storage. HP touts this device as perfect for VR content, being able to render “ultra-smooth” 90 FPS VR.
The HP ZBook 15 is the next device in descending order of power and price. HP lauded this device as being the one used by NASA on the International Space Station, thanks to it being capable of handling demanding workloads for long stretches of time. The device retains the Xeon or Core processor options from its more expensive sibling, as well as the options between Quadro and RadeonPro graphics. That said, storage options are not quite as generous, maxing out at 3TB.
Lastly, the HP ZBook 14u is the smallest and most affordable device in this series. The device is classed as an Ultrabook, thanks to its light and thin frame, at 3.6lbs and 22mm thickness, respectively. The notebook features a 14-inch FHD display, with a touch-enabled option also available.
The Zbook 14u is powered by 7th-generation Core processors, AMD’s FirePro 3D graphics, and has up to 32GB of RAM and 2TB of storage. There’s also a 15-inch version available, dubbed the ZBook 15u.
All the new devices are available right now, except for the ZBook 14u, which will come later this year. In terms of pricing, the ZBook 17 is the top of the line starting at $1,519, followed by the ZBook 15 starting at $1,419. Next up is the ZBook Studio with a starting price of $1,399, with the ZBook 15u retailing for $1,079. The ZBook 14u will likely retail under $1,000, but pricing hasn’t been announced yet.
