HP is refreshing a number of its premium business Windows 10 PCs, which live under the Elite 1000 brand. You might recall that back in September, the company introduced the EliteBook x360 1020 and the EliteBook 1040, along with the all-new EliteOne 1000 AiO series. Today"s announcements are a refresh to the latter, and some new portable PCs that live alongside of the 1020 and the 1040.
HP numbers its EliteBooks according to size, so the 1020 is 12 inches, and the 1040 is 14 inches. With that, the firm is introducing the very first EliteBook 1050, which includes a 15.6-inch display that can be configured in 4K, FHD, or FHD with Sure View.
Along with being the first 15-inch EliteBook, it"s also the most powerful. Last year"s EliteBook 1040 offered an option for Intel"s seventh-generation H-series processors, and with the 1050 G1, the H-series comes standard. But these chips are eighth-gen, meaning that not only are they 45W powerhouses, but they"re hexa-core now instead of quad-core. It also comes with up to an Nvidia GeForce GTX 1050 GPU with 4GB GDDR5.
The device includes HP"s Rapid Charging, as do all of the portable PCs announced today, and that will get you a 50% charge in just 30 minutes. There"s also a privacy guard on the camera, and unlike with Lenovo"s ThinkPad X1 PCs, you don"t have to choose between the privacy guard and an IR camera for Windows Hello.
The Elite x2 1013 G3 is a 13-inch tablet that includes Intel U-series processors, which are 15W quad-core chips. HP says that it"s the world"s smallest business detachable, and with 39% smaller bezels than the previous generation, it fits a 13-inch screen into a 12-inch chassis. That display also comes with an option for HP"s Sure View technology, which offers privacy from "visual hacks", or anyone looking over your shoulder to see what you"re working on.
The x2 1013 also comes with an option for Category 9 4G LTE, meaning that it"s an Always Connected Business PC. HP is also making its rechargeable pen standard in this generation, so you don"t have to worry about stocking up on AAAA batteries.
The last of the portable PCs is the EliteBook x360 1030 G3. Like the 1013, it includes a rechargeable pen, quad-core 15W U-series processors, a Sure View option, a Category 9 LTE option, and a 13-inch screen, but the form factor is different. Rather than a tablet with a detachable keyboard, HP"s x360 devices are 360-degree convertibles.
It"s been less than two months since we reviewed the EliteOne 1000 G1 all-in-one, but it"s already time for G2. Along with eighth-gen hexa-core processors, the other improvement fixes what we found to be the main pain point of the first-gen model; you can now configure it with a dedicated AMD Radeon RX 560 GPU with 4GB GDDR5.
Naturally, all Elite PCs include HP"s security features. These include things like Sure Click for a safe browsing experience, and that will soon include File Protection. There"s also Sure Start Gen 4, which checks the BIOS against a master copy and replaces it if it"s corrupted. This is all along with HP Endpoint Security Controller, Sure Run, Sure Recover, and more. Indeed, HP does take security on its Elite PCs very seriously, and even sometimes brings these technologies to its consumer products, such as Sure View.
Finally, the EliteDisplay S14 is a portable 14-inch screen that can connect to your PC via a USB Type-C port. It"s coming in July for $219.
As for everything else, the EliteBook 1050 G1 is coming in May starting at $1,899, the Elite x2 1013 G3 is coming in June starting at $1,499, and the EliteBook x360 1030 G3 is coming in June starting at $1,449. The EliteOne 1000 G2 series will also be coming in June, starting at $1,279.
