Verizon has finally come along and confirmed wireless charging will be coming to the Windows Phone 8X by HTC, after a few weeks of speculation. HTC will be using the Qi wireless charging standard, also used in the Lumia 820 and 920, exclusively in the Verizon 8X, meaning you won"t get the feature if you buy it on AT&T or T-Mobile in the United States.
Exclusive to Verizon Wireless, the Windows Phone 8X features wireless charging support built right into the device. When placed on top of a charging pad, the Windows Phone 8X can easily and wirelessly charge without the need for wires and cables.
This means that both Windows Phone 8 devices detailed on Verizon - the aforementioned HTC 8X and the Lumia 822 - will include wireless charging support right out of the box, with the Samsung ATIV Odyssey yet to get any concrete details. Pre-orders for both the 8X ($199) and Lumia 822 ($99) begin at 1AM on November 9th, with availability slated for before Thanksgiving.
