Images of the HTC Amaze 4G have appeared online, thanks to a source in Thailand. Little is known about the device that the source managed to uncover at a public event, but it seems to be an entirely new handset. The Amaze 4G, as it is known, also could be the HTC Ruby, branded for T-Mobile. The source of the images is a website based in Thailand, called Droid Sans. The HTC Amaze 4G specs match those of the Ruby, which further strengthens theories that the two devices are the same. The handset packs a huge amount of power into its package, and appears to be targeting Samsung’s Galaxy S II, which is the South Korean manufacturer"s present flagship.
The screen is a 4.3” qHD display, featuring a resolution of 960x540. The Amaze 4G also has an 8MP rear camera with dual LED flash, and a 1.5GHz dual-core CPU. It also offers an impressive 1GB of internal RAM alongside its 16GB of onboard storage. The device shown in the images captured is running a stock version of Android 2.3 (Gingerbread), without HTC’s well-known Sense UI. When the handset releases to T-Mobile it may regain HTC’s famed UI, though not in its fullest sense. T-Mobile branded devices produced by HTC have historically received only some of the Sense UI, instead of the complete UI.
Owing to the Galaxy S II being its main competitor, it would come as no surprise to discover that the Amaze 4G will likely command a premium price-tag.
