A couple days ago, Google announced a new partnership with HTC in which the firm would be paying $1.1 billion in order to secure staff, expertise, and IPs to further its own handset division. While this was exciting news, it appears that HTC is still working on new devices, trying to pave the way towards a brighter future.
Earlier this year, HTC delivered the U11, a handset that has performed well over the past few months, outselling its predecessors. Now, it appears that the firm is working on something new, the U11 Plus, that will feature much of the same specifications but with the main difference of having a display with a 18:9 aspect ratio. This aspect ratio has become quite common this year, with the top phones from Samsung and LG, both offering quite a bit of display real estate on their handsets.
As far as other specifications go, the U11 Plus will offer:
- 5.99-inch QHD display with a 2880x1440 resolution
- Qualcomm Snapdragon 835
- 4GB or 6GB RAM
- 64GB or 128 GB UFS 2.1 storage
- 12MP rear camera with 8MP front-facing camera
- QuickCharge 3.0
- Edge Sense
-
IP68-rating
Perhaps the most interesting piece of information is that this handset will be priced lower than its current offerings. Naturally, we will have to wait and see what comes of all of this, but HTC is expected to make an announcement in regards to this alleged device sometime in October.
